SIGNIFICANT TELEGRAM

Reuters' correspondent in Paris says that considerable importance is attached to a telegram sent by the. Prime Minister, M. Reynaud, to General Weygand on his return to his post in the Near East, expressing the Government's confidence in the Near East Army and its commander-in-chief.

The newspaper "Intrahsigeant" says: "The iron route is closed, and the oil route will suffer the same fate sooner or later. M. Reynaud had good reasons for allowing the newspapers to publish liis telegram to General Weygand."
