PRICE OF TYRES

INCREASE AUTHORISED

An increase of 12 i per cent, in the price of tyres came into effect throughout the- Dominion this morning. The increase, which was approved by the Price Tribunal, is attributed to higher cost of the raw material and also to dearer freight and insurance rates, etc. A Wellington merchant told "The Post" today that the increase had found distributors short of stocks and said it was expected that stocks would remain short for some time.
