PUBLIC SERVICE TOURNEY

The . twenty-fourth Public Service bowling tournament was held yesterday in fine weather on the Kelbum, Khandallah, Thorndon, and Hataitai greens. Forty-eight rinks, including representatives from Masterton and Carterton, competed.

Playing on the Thorndon green, the Public Trust team (W. Gilbert, skip) won section: A, and Legislative Department (A. Needham, skip) won section B. In the play-off for green winner Gilbert beat Needham. On Hataitai green Public Works Department (H. P. Perry, skip) won section C, and Carterton Post and Telegraph (G. Riggs, skip) won section D. In the play-off Perry beat Riggs. On the Kelburn green Railways (D. R. Munro, skip) won section E, and Treasury Department (P. Ellerm, skip) won section F. In the play-off Munro beat Ellerm. On the Khandallah green a combined team (K. S. Henry, skip) won section G, and Public Works Department (W. Langridge, skip) won section H. In the play-off Henry beat Langridge. The tournament will be concluded today. ■
