MINISTER'S STATEMENT

ASHBURTON, This Day.

During an inspection of irrigation and drainage works in the county yesterday, the Minister of Public Works (the Hon. R. Semple) said that farm clearing, irrigation, drainage, and river erosion were the only things on which his Department would now concentrate". Public Works jobs were going to be reorganised and the existing jobs mentioned would be speeded up if

possible.
