(British' Official Wireless.)
(Received November 30, 10 a.m.)
RUGBY, November 29
It can now be stated that the aircraft of tne R.A.F. long-range patrols which raided Borkum encountered no enemy aircraft on the outward journey* They arrived at .their objective with 29 minutes to spare before complete darkness. The defence was taken by surprise, and the leading section attacked the three seaplanes they could see on the slipways. Machine-guns on roofs and hangars and pom-pom guns opened fire on the raiders, "and ships also began firing. The R.A.F. planes then turned their machine-guns on the seaplanes, the machine-gun posts on the roofs, and pom-poms, and then made off. ■
No enemy fighters came up to engage them and no aircraft were observed on the return flight. x
