August 28, 1.10 p.m.) LONDON, August 27.
The Paris correspondent of the Associated Press of Great Britain spates that a communique from the Premier's office announced Herr HitHer's refusal to accept M. Daladier's suggestion that Germany and Poland should negotiate directly over Danzig.
It declared that Herr Hitler informed M. Coulondre of the i*eply in the afternoon on August 26 and that the German Charge d'Affaires personally informed M. Daladier to that effect tonight.
The communique announced that in Herr Hitler's message on August 26 he declared that he could not tolerate the existing situation in Poland and deplored that German and French blood should be spilt following measures he might have to take in order to settle the situation.
When M. Daladier was informed of this he replied that no Frenchman had ever done more than himself to establish cordial relations between France and Germany. He added that he himself guaranteed Poland's dispositions.
M. Daladier added that he himself guaranteed Poland's dispositions for mutual recourse to methods of free conciliation.
He affirmed that no man of feeling could understand that war could break out without at least a new direct attempt at a peaceful arrangement between Germany and Poland.
