"SNUB TO EMPIRE"
INVITATION TO FOREIGN STUDENTS "ABSORB BRITISH CULTURE" (Independent Cable Service.) - ! (Received August 3, 9 a.m.) I LONDON, August 2. The "Daily Express" features an announcement that the British Council for Relations Avith Other Countries has invited 150 more foreign students to "absorb British culture" at a cost to the taxpayer of £3750 as a snub to the Empire. It says that 25 students are invited from Greece, 16 from Bulgaria, 12 from Yugoslavia and France, and numerous other Europeans. Australia, Canada, and Neiv Zealand are invited to send one each. The students are to be granted £250 bursaries for the universities. They will be selected throughout the Avorld by embassy officials, consuls, and regional officers of the council.
