ESPERANTO

Members of the Hutt Valley Esperanto Club paid their third official visit the weekly meeting of the Miramar Esperanto Society which took place in St. Aidan's Hall, Miramar Avenue, last night, and were heartily welcomed by the president, Mr. Bertram Potts. Miss Mary Stirling, president of the Hutt Valley Club, ■in replying to the welcome, said she was pleased to know that the Miramar Society intended shortly to visit them and give an evening's entertainment. Both clubs divided into their respective tuition classes which continued for an hour, after which the Miramar Society acted as hosts and provided supper. This was followed by a playlet, written by bMiss M. Stirling, entitled "Vizitante Butikon" ("Visiting a Shop"), in which Miss Kathleen Stirling and Mr. J. Hamilton showed in two diverting scenes the different shopping methods of the two sexes. Next was given a two-scene sketch. "La Pacienca Edzino'* ("The Patient Wife"), also written by Miss Stirling, in which she and Mr. J. Hepworth cleverly presented a domestic tragedy with an unexpected denouement. During the evening the members of the two clubs used every opportunity of mixing among each other and making use of their Esperanto. A hearty vote of thanks to the visiting'club terminated the enjoyable proceedings.
