OPENING OF SESSION

COMMISSION APPOINTED

The following five members of the Legislative Council have been appointed a Commission to open the new Parliament on June 27: —

The Speaker of the Legislative Council (the Hon. Sir Walter Carncross).

The Leader of the Legislative Council (the Hon. Mark Fagan).

The Hon. W. Perry, Wellington. The Hon. T. F. Doyle, Southland; The Hon. J. Alexander, Auckland.

Mr. Fagan said yesterday that the motion for the Address in Reply in the Legislative Council would be moved by the Hon. T. F. Doyle and seconded by the Hon. J. E. Duncan.

The appointment of a new Speaker for the Council, with a five years' term of office, will not come up for consideration until July 17, when Sir Walter Carncross's term of office will expire.
