NO PEACE AT ANY PRICE
RUMANIA'S STAND
RE-ARMING AT TOP SPEED
(Received June 8, 9.30 a.m.)
BUCHAREST, June 7,
King Carol, opening a corporative Parliament on the Fascist style, announced that Rumania is re-arming at top speed in order to safeguard her interests. Though she was pacifically inclined, she would not accept peace at any price.
King Carol has created a "Front of National Renaissance" in Rumania, which all parties have been invited to join. The new regime is a sort of corporative State. Political meetings and discussions are banned. Newspapers, diminished in number, are subject to strict censorship. Members of the new movement are expected to greet one another with the arm upraised and the word "Sanatate" (Health). A people's militia, resembling the S.S. or S.A. formations in Germany, is being formed. Jews are being "subjected to disabilities.
