HOURS OF OPENING
AUSTRALIAN R.S.A. VISIT
Applications for 121 shares were allotted at the monthly meeting of the directors of the New Zealand Centennial Exhibition Company on Tuesday.
The creche at the Exhibition is well on the way to completion. A letter has been received by the directors from the New Zealand Red Cross offering to take it over, provide trained nurses, and operate it throughout. This offer has been thankfully accepted.
The R.S.A. wrote requesting free admission to the Exhibition for the members of an Australian contingent which proposes to come across the Tasman next year. It was resolved to grant the request and to prepare special tickets for the purpose.
The hours of opening and closing were fixed as follows: —Exhibition buildings, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; amusement park, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., the time of the closing of the amusement park to be extended if and when necessary by arrangement between the amusement park company and the Exhibition company. It was decided that the Exhibition shall be closed on Sundays and Good Friday.
It has been decided that a prize be given to each millionth visitor to the
Exhibition. In regard to this an offer was received from the British General Electric Company to donate a cabinet radio to the first millionth visitor.
Today the general manager of the Exhibition. Mr. C. P. Hainsworth, is visiting the site with representatives of the Government Tourist Department, fifteen of whom will gain information for the travelling public. The officers are at present attending a conference in Wellington.
