VETERAN TRAINER PASSES

The death occurred suddenly at Christchurch on Tuesday of the veteran trainer Mr. W. G. Hobbs, who had been connected with horses from his boyhood days, and as a public trainer had many good horses in his stable at Riccarton. These included Palestrina. the winner of several important races.
