T. Richards has been appointed to the board of directors of MacDuffs, Limited. v Colonel N. W. McD. Weir, officer commanding the Northern Military District, and Lieutenant-Colonel L. Potter, general staff officer, arrived from Auckland today by train to attend a conference of officers commanding districts. : ■ Mr. D. Holderness, superintendent and engineer of the Auckland Harbour Board, arrived today by the Limited express. The Hon. A. Burns, M.L.C., has - .been reappointed to the Auckland University College Council as the representative of the Education Board.

Colonel P. H. Bell, officer commanding the Southern Military Command, arrived from Christchurch today, accompanied by Lieutenant-Colonel K. Stewart.
