THEFT OF £342

COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE

AUCKLAND, This Day.

Pleading guilty to the theft, between December, 1937, and May, 1939, of amounts totalling £342 odd, Walter Kenneth Reeve, manager and secretary of the British and Foreign Trading Company, was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Bail was fixed at £150.

Charles D. Low, managing director, said that when he asked Reeve about a certain cheque Reeve said: "I have a confession to make. I have been wanting to make it for some time." He said he had been: manipulating the company's funds and wished to help clear up the matter. He had been employed by witness for ten years.
