The Minister of Internal Affairs (tht Hon; W. E. Parry) returned to Wellington today.

The Minister of Defence (the Hon.^ F. Jones) will leave for Christchurch' and Dunedin tonight and will be absent about a week.

The Minister of Labour (the Hon. P. C. Webb) is expected to return to Wellington tomorrow morning. *•

Sir Alexander Roberts returned- to Wellington today by the Awatea froip, Sydney after attending the annual meeting of the Australian Mutual Provident Society, of which he is one of the New Zealand- directors.

Major-General P. J. Mackesy, CJ3+ D.5.0., M.C., and Major G. H. Clifton, M.C., left for the South Island by air this morning to inspect the troops in camp at Burnham. They will return to Wellington late this afternoon.'

Mr. J. H. Quilliam returned today by the Awatea after a holiday visit to Australia.

Captain V. G. Webb, marine superintendent of the Union Company, was a passenger by the Awatea, which arrived today from Sydney.

Mr. W. R. Slack, works manager at Sydney for Reckitts (Oversea), Ltd., and Colman-Keen, Ltd., arrived today by the Awatea in connection with tha establishment of a factory for the associated companies at Dunedin, in which it is estimated sixty persons will be employed for a start.

Mr. C. K. Gamble, managing director of the Vacuum Oil Company, Pty., Ltd., - Melbourne, arrived from Sydney by the Awatea today on a business visit of ■ about two weeks.

Major M. C. Nolan, an Army officer who has latterly been on service in Burma, was among the passengers by the Awate? from Sydney today.

Mr. M. O. Barnett returned to Wellington by the Awatea from Sydney, today, accompanied by.Mrs. Barnett.

Mr. J. Moodabe, governing -director of Amalgamated Theatres, Ltd., together w^th Mr. R. H. Allen, secretary, and Mr. Edgar Bartlett, the company's attorney, arrived from Auckland this morning.

Mr. E. G. Martin, managing director in New Zealand for the Atlantic Union Oil Company, Ltd.. returned on Friday to Auckland by the Mariposa from a five months' tour of America, accom* panied by Mrs. Martin.

Mr. P. W. Maddock, general manager for New Zealand for Metro-Gold-wyn-Mayer (New Zealand), returned, to Wellington today after an extensive business tour, of the South Island.

Mr. George D. Healy, of Melbourne, superintendent for Australia and New / Zealand of the Bank of Australasia, arrived in Wellington by the Awatea today on an official visit to the Dominion.
