LONDON, May 12.
In the Davis Cup doubles match D. C. Coombe and C. E. Malfroy (New Zealand) beat C. E. Hare and F. H. D. Wilde (Britain), 6-3, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2.
Wilde made some loose shots in the first set and the New Zealanders captured Hare's service in the fifth game. Coombe was playing some good lobs. The Englishmen levelled the score at 3-all by taking Malfroy's service, but driving errors and loose returns told against the Englishmen.

leying- turned the tables in the second set, Malfroy falling into errors while Coombe was erratic.
At the opening of the third set the Englishmen were again volleying brilliantly and led 2-0. The New Zealanders evened the scores at 3-all and went on to win, Hare placing his returns badly.
After a slight delay owing to rain the Englishmen led 2-0 in the fourth set, but their errors enabled the New Zealanders to draw level at 2-all, after which they won comfortably.
The New Zealanders' lobbing was consistently brilliant, preventing the Englishmen from maintaining pressure. The New Zealanders advanced to the net more quickly and volleyed more decisively than their opponents.
Wallis Myers, writing in the "Daily Telegraph," says the British were inferior in tactics and in confidence.
