Acceptances for the first day of the Manawatu Meeting are due by 9 p.m. on Monday. Nominations for the Wanganui Meeting close at 8 p.m. on Monday. The Trentham trainer T. R. George holds a lead of 12 over his nearest rival, L. G. Morris, in the winning trainers' list for the season. Arctic King took no harm from his exertions at Hawera, and all going well he will next appear at the Manawatu Meeting. Silver Sight was withdrawn from all engagements at the Auckland Meeting at 4.10 p.m. on Thursday. However, there is a possibility he will still race at Awapuni and Wanganui. ■ Kena did not meet with the best of luck in either of his outings at Hawera, and he may show to better advantage at Awapuni next weekend. ..O. Evans, who is indentured to J. W. Cathro. of Matamata, is the leading apprentice jockey of the season with 29 wins. Charade, who has not raced for some months, is to reappear at Awapuni. She is looked upon in some quarters as a likely northern prospect. After racing at the Marlborough Meeting Far East joined A. Goodman's stable at Trentham, and the intentions are to prepare him for jumping races. Travenna, who created a good impression towards the end of the last winter season, is to contest the jumping event at the South Canterbury Meeting. Treasurer, who won the Novice Stakes at the Amberley Meeting last Saturday, is a four-year-old brown gelding by Paper Money from the Greyspear —Sweet Smile mare Sweet Beauty, thus a half-brother to Rebel Star. This was Treasurer's third start. He js .awned by his breeder, Mr. G. Hall, and trained by H. Nurse, at Riccarton. There were several errors in the list ©f weights telegraphed for the Great Northern Steeplechase. Sky Pilot, Mio •SLume, and En Tour each have 10.3, JTohn Charles and Black Marlin each 10.2. They all appeared on the 10.0 mark. Sporting Song's weight is 9.12, not 9.5, and Simint also has 9.12. Mr. W. Kemp, who died suddenly on Tuesday, was a prominent Auckland owner and breeder. Among the horses he bred and raced were Lady Bruce, Mary Bruce, Emerald Hill, Golden Glass Queen Emerald, Gold Money, Ruling King, and Captain Bruce. At the time of his death he had First Gold Money and Bronze Emerald in commission. He was very popular in racing circles, and the respect in which he was held was shown by the large attendance at his funeral. The late Mr. Kemp was a brother to Mr, J. D. Kemp and Mr. A.
