MODERN SCHOOL

OPENED BY MINISTER

(Special to the "Evening Post.")

PALMERSTON N., This Day.

Rangiwahia's new school building, conforming in every respect to the latest in " architectural; desigii, was opened by the Minister of Education (the Hon. P. Fraser) yesterday in the presence of a record gathering of settlers and ex-pupils. The function coincided with the school jubilee celebrations. Pioneer settlers had nothing but praise for the new building, .which" stands out in striking comparison with the log cabin of the early days. ' The Minister congratulated the school on reaching its jubilee year, and said the Government was determined that the children should have the best schools possible. However, there was an enormous leeway to make up. He had been inundated with letters pointing out' the need for new buildings to replace worm-eaten* ones, many from 50 ■to 60 years-of age.
