SHELLING AND BOMBING

The Albanian news agenlcy stated that before the arrival of the Italians Durazzo was shelled four times. Valona was twice bombed frcun the air and three times shelled from the sea. Santi Quaranta was bombed three times from the air and shelßed three times from the sea. San Giovanni di Medua is stated to have been*reduced to ruins.
After the Italians reached' Tirana the Italian news agency reported that armed bands released convicts during the night who sacked the royal palace and the residence of King Zog's sisters. Roving gangs kept the city in a state of panic throughout the: night, firing rifles and looting. At one period they threatened the Italian legation, but withdrew. Police officers, assisted by Italians and citizen volunteers, finally restored order and made 'several arrests.
It is announced that an entire Jtalian regiment was transported by; air to Tirana from Taranto.
Rome reports that the Italian troops advanced 10 miles into the interior when the operations were halted by the arrival of an Albanian delegatUon bearing new proposals from King Ztog. General Guzzoni, commanding the Italian forces, transmitted the proposals to Rome. The Italian Government's reply, it was stated, would be communicated to the Albanian delegatioin in Durazzo. If the proposals wene considered to be a possible basis for understanding negotiations would prob* ably commence immediately, but if| not military operations would be re-' sumed. •
