EASTBOURNE V. WANGANUI T. 0.8.

The annual match between Eastbourne and Wanganui Technical College Old Boys, played at the Lower Hutt Recreation Ground, was not a very exciting one. though it was closely contested. The "' Eastbourne team wore white arm-bands in memory of the late Pilot Officer Peter Shennan, formerly a member of the club.

Though Eastbourne held a decided territorial advantage, they could do little with it, and the first spell was half gone before a score resulted. Then Guthrie, Wanganui's half, kicked to Skewan, who ran from ten yards on his own side of the half-way mark to score a brilliant try. This was not converted, and soon M. Hill evened accounts with a penalty. An Eastbourne forward rush ended with McCauley diving' over for an unconverted try. Ford came to light with a penalty for Wanganui, which again squared accounts.

Play was uneventful until late in the second half, when, following a dribbling attack by T. Cairncross, Guthrie scored well out for Wanganui. G. Posselt, EastbourneJs centre-three-quarter, left the field because of his injuries, and his brother, who replaced him, scored the final try. The game ended Eastbourne 9, Wanganui Technical College Old Boys 9.
