LOTTERIES NOT FAVOURED

(By Telegraph—Press Association.)

NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day.

State lotteries as a means of financing hospitals were not favoured at the Hospital Board's Conference this morning. The opinion was expressed that besides being an unstable method'of obtaining finance they would encourage the gambling spirit. Remits on the subject were lost.

The conference concluded today. Among the vice-presidents elected was Mr. A. J. Moody (Auckland).
