RED CROSS INSTRUCTION.

Special classes in Red Cross instruction in first aid and home nursing have been instituted by the Wellington Red Cross Society and are being held at its rooms, 61 Dixon Street, on Monday and Wednesday evenings. At all times the society's organisation functions quietly, and during the uncertain state of the world affairs it has been strengthening its organisation so that in the event of a call being made its machinery will be ready to spring into immediate action. Numbers of inquiries have been received at the office and enrolments made, which indicates that if the call should come there will be a wide and spontaneous desire to serve. Both men's and women's voluntary aid detachments are being added to and to those wishing to serve in this capacity an invitation is extended to immediately link up. Those holding the society's certificates or those of kindred organisations are especially desirable. Work in these detachments is not exclusively confined to performing first aid and home nursing duties, but cooks for canteen work, typists, and clerical workers for record keeping, motor drivers, and those competent in many other departments of service are required. Names, addresses, and telephone numbers are being taken so that as services are required those concerned will be immediately communicated with and requisitioned for duty. I Full particulars can be had_by apply--1 jn* tp the secretary, TeL 52-57*.
