OBITUARY
DR. L. P. HAYWOOD
To those who were privileged to know the late Dr. L. P. Haywood, who for many years had practised his profession of dental surgeon in Wellington, the news of his death, which occurred a few days ago, will be a distinct shock. His circle of friends was a wide one, his personality being such as to invite the trust and confidence as well as the affection of those with whom he came in contact, while his breadth of outlook and kindly tolerance rendered it possible for men far less accomplished than he was to call him their friend. His death is a loss to both the dental and the medical profession, all members of which held him in high esteem. He took his degrees in dental surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, closing his studies with a post-graduate course in London before returning to New Zealand to practise his profession
As a sportsman, he was a popular figure, on the golf links, playing the game for its own sake, chiefly at the Miramar Club, of which he was a member. **
