ASSAULT CHARGE
One month's imprisonment for assaulting Christian James Mogaltie, one month's imprisonment for breach of probation, and a 10s fine, in default forty-eight hours' imprisonment for a second statutory offence of drunkenness were the sentences imposed upon Patrick Francis Brennan, a seaman, aged 26, who appeared before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today. Brennan pleaded guilty to the drunkenness charge and to the breach of probation, but denied the assault. Mogaltie, whose evidence was accepted by the Bench, described how the accused had hit him over the mouth with a full mug of beer while they were in a city hotel.
