WHANGAREI, This Day

A hailstorm unprecedented in intensity swept a portion of Otamatea County yesterday, covering the hills to a depth of six inches. On some roads cars had difficulty in forcing their way through practically solid ice. Power board employees were forced to cease work owing to lightning. Despite the hail -storm the day was warm and sultry.
