HUTT VALLEY ASSOCIATION

At last night's meeting of the management committee of the Hutt Valley Cricket Association a letter was received from the Petone Borough Council advising that two temporary wickets would be available on the Petone Recreation Ground until such time as further contemplated improvements were carried out.

The report of the council's meeting regarding the allocation of the Petone Oval to the Softball Association was also discussed, and it was felt that certain of • the statements made should be replied to. Messrs. J. E. Wilson and H. N. Jones were appointed to draft a letter in reply. A letter was also received from the Petone Cricket Club offering to cooperate in any action in regard to the oval. It was decided to communicate with the club in order that the matter could be more fully discussed. Classification of teams resulted as follows:—

A Grade.—Bell Park, Eastbourne, Empire, Gear United, Moera Stop Out, Taita, Trafalgar Park (two teams). B Grade.—New Zealand Slippers, Petone Hibernians, Central, Metters United. Gracefield, Wills, Woollen Mills, Gear United. C Grade.—V.M.C.A., Taita, Trafalgar Park, Oddfellows, Epuni, General Motors, Lever Brothers, Eastbourne. D Grade.—New Zealand Motor Bodies, Odlins, Todd Motors, Trafalgar Park, Bell Park, Hutt Hibernians, Moera Stop Out, Stewart Prams. E Grade.—New Zealand , Motor Bodies, Hutt Hibernians. Petone Hibernians, Woollen Mills, Taita, Trafalgar Park, Chronicle. Mr E. Hutt (superintendent of Lower Hutt Reserves) advised the secretary that the Lower Hutt grounds could not be utilised for practice or matches until permission had been received from him. Present at the meeting were Messrs. J E. Wilson (chairman), H. N. Jones, Dougan, J. May, H. Bramley, C. Matthews, J. Boulat, H. Webster, J. Laracy, W Cate, A. Cooper, and B. Phillips.
