CBy Telegraph—Press Association.) ( AUCKLAND, September 27.

An attack upon the Government's social security scheme for the manner in which it would impose severe taxation upon four classes of people who could not afford to pay was made by Mr. J. E. Close, National Party candidate for Waitemata, when opening his campaign. ' .He said that persons under 20 would contribute by way of Is in the £ tax £200,000 a year, domestic workers £75,000, other women £225,000, and pensioners £550,000. The candidate was given an enthusiastic hearing by more than 500 people, who carried a vote of thanks with acclamation.
