Sir James Steel-Maitland, chairman of the Isteg Steel Co. of Australasia, Ltd.. and of Isteg Steel Products (N.Z.), Ltd., returned to Wellington today by the Wanganella after a lengthy stay in Australia.

Mr. H. H. Higgins, president of the Wellington Manufacturers' Association, who has been on a business, trip, to Australia, arrived by the Wanganella this morning.

Mr. W. Ratcliffe, manager of, Glaxo Laboratories, Ltd., Palmerston North, who has been on a six months' business visit to England, returned by the Wanganella today.

Mr. N. H. Smith, of Rotorua, returned today by the Wanganella after a holiday visit to Australia.

Mr. A. C. Owen, formerly district electrical engineer, Southland, has taken up his new duties as district electrical engineer at Palmerston North, where he will be in charge of the Waikaremoana and Mangahao power schemes.

Mr. A. O. Heany, secretary of the Associated Chambers of Commerce of New Zealand, left Wellington today by air for Blenheim, to address a .public meeting of the business community in that centre.

Captain R. C. Hammond, manager of the Northern Steamship Company Limited, arrived from Auckland today by the Limited express.

Mr. H. F. O'Leary, K.C., returned by the Wanganella today from a month's holiday in Sydney

Mr. Charles Alston, a director of the Isteg Steel Company of Australasia, Ltd., and Mr. A. L. Dugard, consulting engineer to the company and chief engineer of the Melbourne City Council, arrived at Wellington today by the Wanganella from Australia.

Dr. Elizabeth Gunn, Director of School Hygiene, Health Department, returned from the south this morning.

Messrs. J. B. K. Taylor and M. Gray, of Fiji, are visiting Wellington. Mr. Taylor, who is a former captain of Wellington's Rugby representatives, is chairman of the Fijian Rugby Union, and one purpose of his visit to Wellington is to discuss plans with the New Zealand Rugby Union for a visit by a Fijian team to New Zealand.
