BOXING NEXT WEEK.

Rayner v. Franklin at Town Hall.

Another attractive programme of boxing will be provided by the Wellington Boxing Association at the Town Hall on Thursday evening. There will be two professional bouts and a number of amateur preliminaries. The main contest will be a ten-round match between popular Clarrie Rayner, of Blenheim, lightweight champion of New Zealand, and Joe Franklin, ex-lightweight champion. The fact that these two drew in a torrid bout at Napier recently suggests that Thursday night's contest should be something out of the ordinary. Rayner is now at his best and Franklin has benefited from his boxing tour of Australia and South Africa and will be the ideal opponent for the fast, hardhitting Blenheim boy. Em. Jacobs, light-heavyweight champion of the Dominion, and Kid Fisher will meet in the preliminary eight-round contest. Particulars are advertised.
