21ST BIRTHDAY
PRESENTS FOR ST. MARK'S
A twenty-first birthday certainly has its merits. Appreciative friends of St. Mark's Church School gave many presents to celebrate its jubilee on Wednesday, many of them being substantial and very welcome. The elaborately t decorated birthday cakes were gifts, and a table in the assembly hall displayed useful cushions and other articles to the large gathering which attended the birthday festivities. Donations helped to buy a complete rubber covering for the stairway In the school building and other essentials will be completed in due course.
A service will be held at St. Mark's Church tomorrow for pupils, ex-pupils, arid parents of the school. An adver-, tisement in this issue gives further particulars. The children will carry, a beautiful banner, made by Mrs.G. W. Barltrop- Finely embroidered on a white silk background, a gold lion rampant is incorporated in the banner. The red and blue school colours form the shield, and the motto, "Nulla dies sine linea," is set below. An impressive finish is made by the hanging gold fringe. v
