The, programme was.selected wtih care to illustrate certain features of pi ays <f we ra "Children's Overture" (Quilter), the.waltz from Tschalkowsky's "Sleeping Beauty"' ballet, "Symphonic Rhapsody" (Eric Coates), niinuet from the "Military Symf-£? ny, ?, f M^^'c the tone P°em £™£™ n »'(?^ nt ,Sae.n s>. and J'Hunt- ™£ CCl,\ e rßucalossi). In addition, Misß Molly Atkinson sang "Bird Songs ?t ]s ven tide" and "I Hear You Calling" (both by Eric Coates), to illustrate the embroidery lent to a song by an orchestral background. This was followed by the "Rhapsody" by the same composer. At the conclusion of the concert, Mr. C. Nicholls, chairman of the committee connected with the concerts, presented the prizes. For an essay competition on the first concert the prize-winners were: Bruce Mason (Wellington College), 1; Monica Burnett (Wellington Girls' College), 2.
