SAN FRANCISCO-AUSTRALIA

SAID TO BE POSSIBILITY

SAN FRANCISCO, August 25. Mr. Edward Cahill, utilities manager of the city of San Francisco, told the Australian Associated Press today that there was a distinct possibility that Imperial Airways would establish a service between San Francisco and Australia. Pan-American Airways, he said, had leased the use of airport facilities on Treasure Island, in San Francisco Bay, named in honour of the Golden Gate World's Fair. It is being made a permanent airport. Mr. Cahill explained that they would use only one hangar, leaying the other available for Imperial Airways. He declined to give further details, and added that the negotiations were not yet completed. Officials of Imperial Airways, interviewed by the Australian Associated Press, expressed doubt whether the plan would ever be consummated.
