The successful applicant will probably be appointed a Commissioner of the High Court of Western Samoa, and the duties will include those of Crown Prosecutor, Official - Assignee, Commissioner of Labour, and . Registrar of Lands, etc. The salary for the position is £400 p.a., rising to £445 ' in two annual instalments, plus tropical f allowance of £60 p.a. for a single officer, ' and £120 p.a. for a married officer. The successful applicant will require to • leave for Samoa by the Maui Pomare from 1 Wellington on October 4, and will be 3 stationed at Apia. He will be eligible for " 3 months' furlough on full pay at the end 1 of each 3 years' service in Samoa. In i addition, a fortnight's local leave is granted annually except tor the year in which fur--1 lough is taken. Passages from present place of abode to Apia and return, to- . gether with reasonable travelling expenses, will be paid by the Administration in respect of the appointee, his wife, and children under the age of 16, but he will be - required to refund these expenses if he does not serve a minimum period of 3 years.
