BIG INCREASE IN STAKES

An all-round increase of £500 " in stakes is provided for in the programme issued for the Auckland. Trotting Club's Winter Meeting; to be held at Alexandra Park on June 4 and 58, and the fixture looks certain to attract southern representation. The meeting is being held a fortnight, earlier than last year, so that it will fit iri with the Auckland Racing Club's Great Northern Meeting, and thus form a carnival week similar to that run at Riccartoh in August and November each season.

The distance of the chief events has been, reduced from two miles to a mile and a half, and carries a 3min 23see limit. The Adams Memorial is also endowed with a Gold Cup to the value of £50. The classes have been varied, and all grades of pacers are catered for.
