Appearing in the Magistrate's Court today, changed with assaulting a young woman, William Hector Sedgwick, a labourer, aged 25, was fined £5 and costs. On a further charge 6f using indecent language in a public place, he was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within twelve months. He was also ordered to take out a prohibition order for that period. A duel to death was recently fought in Silverspring, Maryland, U.S.A., and the weapons were—cars. After a fierce quarrel two gangs of young men leapt into two cars, and Segan a butting battle. Again and again the cars hit one another with resounding crashes. Then one skidded almost 100 ft, hit a telegraph pole, and killed two occupants.
