BUSINESS AND PORT MANAGEMENT
Speaking at Roseneath, School last evening, Mr. Will Appleton, Citizens' candidate for the Harbour Board, claimed that his record of service on the City Council and Hospital Board qualified him for the task. To maintain Wellington as the premier port of the Dominion it was essential, stated Mr. Appleton, that the sound and prudent, financial policy of the; past should be adhered to. As an experienced financial man and a qualified accountant he considered he could be of assistance in helping to administer the board's affairs... Judging, by the policy of the Labour City Council iil Dunedin in raiding reserve- funds, it wa& evident that similar results would not be possible in the future if Labour was given control of the port's affairs.
