"MOTHER'S DAY" SERVICES

"Mother's Day" was observed at the Island Bay Baptist Church on Sunday last. The preacher at the morning service was Dr. J. M. Laird, Dominion secretary of the Crusader Movement. The serpian was based on the words "Honour Thy Mother," and the preacher stressed- the v.need of Christian motherhood and • strongly denounced some of. the-social? evils of the day. The church was filled, and the large congregation was deeply interested in the •sermon. The Rev. A. L. Silcock was the preacher in the evening. The Communion table was decorated with white chrysanthemums, and each worshipper was presented with a white buttonhole on entering the church.
