WANGANUI, This Day. A number of horses arrived last night for the Wanganui Meeting, which opens on Thursday. They included Wotan, Sporting Song, Silk Sox, Te Huia, Red Sand, Davistock, Even Money, Thala, Dutch Girl, Slippery, Debham, Hunting Mint, Brigadore, and Huskie. The weather was fine for the galloping this morning and the tracks were in good order. Thala went half a mile in 52sec. Slippery shaded Hunting Mint over the same distance in 50 l-ssec. Beau Gallante led Huskie over the first half-mile of seven furlongs, but Huskie was in front at the end in lmin 34 3-ssec. Captain Treville slipped over three furlongs in a tick under 38 sec. Dutch Girl was a head in front of Cometarium after running five furlongs in lmin 3 l-ssec. Galteemore, Gay Hunting, and Koura—Rua finished as named at the end of seven furlongs in lmin 31 4-ssec. Alunga beat Merry Ruler over six furlongs in lmin 16 4-ssec. Cloneen did five furlongs by himself in lmin 34 Amatory finished a head in front of Reipar after traversing seven furlongs in lmin 30 4-ssec. Master Norval was three lengths away. Golden Pal sprinted half a mile in 49sec. Sporting Song and Even Money gave a fair display in a school over five big fences. Silk Sox finished in front of Te Huia after clearing five hurdles. Mozeltove and Entheos were together over five hurdles, both clouting the obstacles hard at times. Clarion Call (A. Jenkins) cleared six of the big fences, jumping splendidly.
