EISTEDDFOD RESULTS

"The operatic work of the children has improved greatly since I was here ten months ago," said Miss Dolee Brooks (Sydney), M.R.A.D., M.1.5.T.0. (London), adjudicator of fancy dancing, at the New Zealand Eisteddfod Festival, at present being held at the Wellington Town Hall.

Miss Brooks considered the work of the children generally to be of a high standard. The story-dance number was quite original, she said, and was not conducted at Sydney festivals. It was a novelty, and a good one. The public have been showing keen interest in the festival, and the various sessions have been well attended. Yesterday afternoon's and. evening's results are:— Character or Semi-character Dance (under. 9), twenty entries, two recalls. —Zelda Turvey (Petone), 1; Joan Mason (Vogeltown), 2; Rae Bromley (Berhampore), 3. Very highly commended: Allan Vann (Newtown), Dawn Sargent (Wellington). Song and Dance (12 and under 16), nineteen entries.—Colin Currie (Wellington), 1; Dawn Larsen (Lower Hutt), 2; Keith Worllet (Newtown) and Phpebe Lawson (Petone), equal, 3. Very highly commended: Alexander Grant, Judy Lewis (Petone). Highly commended: Judy Cooper (Wellington).
