COLLEGE TEACHERS

AMALGAMATION ISSUE

Although a numerical majority of members of the combined New Zealand Secondary Schools' Association and the New Zealand Technical School Teachers' Association showed themselves in a recent questionnaire to be in favour of the amalgamation of the two associations, the majority of the technical teachers who voted were against

it. The annual conference of the Technical School Teachers' Association today adopted a recommendation from a sub-committee which investigated the subject of amalgamation that the issues be allowed to drop until such time as both associations are agreed upon the advisability of amalgamation. The following remit from Dunedin was adopted: "That before proceeding with amalgamation each association should formulate definitely and in some detail its immediate aims and aspirations."
