RELIGIOUS SERVICES. LECTURE ON BIBLE TRUTH. (God willing). I 0.0. F. HALL. ALLEN STKEE'I *■• (Opp. Paramount, Courtenay Place) SUNDAY, at 7 p.m. SUBJECT: "WHAT IT MEANS TO BE IN CHRIST" "MARANATHA'S" STATEMENT FURTHER CONSIDERED. Jn the course of this lecture evidence will be.produced from the Scriptures to show — (1) THAT every person born into this World is "IN ADAM," inheriting from Adam a sin and death nature. (Roms. 5:12. Gen. 3:17-24, Eph. 2:11---1-12, Eph. 4:17-18, Cols. 1:21, 1 Thess. 4: 13). (2) THAT God has provided a way of essape from the consequences of Adam's transgression—Christ is "the way." (John 14:16, John 10:1-9, Acts 4:12, Ilebs. 7:25, John 3:16. Acts 16:31.) (3) SO the Scriptures, teach "As in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive ... at His coming." (1 Cor. 15:21-23, Roms. 5:19.) (4) THAT the only way to put off Adam , a and put on Christ is shown by Paul —"As many of you as have been baptised into Christ have put on Christ." (Gals. 3:27-29.) (0) THAT this baptism is not infantsprinkling but a bodily immersion in water. (Matt. 3:16, Acts 8:36-39, Roms. 6:4, Cols. 2:12.) (6) THAT furthermore it must be preceded by belief, i.e., belief of the Gospel for Jesus said, "He that believeth the Gospel and is baptised shall be saved." (Mark 16:15-16, Roms. 1:16, 1 Cor. 15:1-2, Acts 2:41, Acts 8:12, Acts 18-8.) (7) THAT the Gospel which must be believed before baptism into Christ is the Gospel Christ taught, "The Gospel of the Kingdom of God"—the "good news" of His second coming to set up the Kingdom of God on earth. (Matt. 4:23. Matt. 9:35, Luke 8:1, Luke 4:43, Acts-1:3, Matt. 6:10, Rev. 11:15, Acts 17:31, Zech. 14:9.) (8) FROM which it follows that those only who believe in the Gospel Christ taught and submit to the baptism He appointed are truly "IN CHRIST" enjoying the blessed hope that Christ at His coming will raise them from the dead, immortalise their bodies, and grant them an inheritance in the Kingdom He will set up on earth. (Matt. 7:14, Luke 6:46-49, John 10:27----28 Hebs. 5:9, John 6:40, 1 Cor. 15:12----23 1 Thess. 4:16, Rev. 11:18. 1 Cor. 15:51-54, Phil. 3:21, Matt. 25:34, 1 Cor. 6:2, Rev. 5:9-10, Rev. 20:6.) Questions invited.. No collection. Your personal salvation depends upon believing and obeying "the truth." Learn what "the truth" is from the book "Christendom Astray." Come, We Heartily Welcome You, TTNITARTAN FREE CHURCH, 100 Lambton Quay, Wellington. t , "WHEN RELIGION DOMINATES OUR LIVES." DURING this week we have received an anonymous letter in which the writer says: "How you can waste precious money and time in printing and arguing witn people who are soaked to the neck in Christian teaching, and surrounded Jjy Bibles and churches, is beyond understanding." Much more this writer says concerning the great need of heathen lands, and the millions passing into eternity without - even hearing .the' glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ, which people in these lands despise. As a general rule this class of letter goes into the waste paper basket, but there is so much truth iv it Unit we feel we must comment on it We admit that there is a spirit of indifference in the world, and also sad to say among professing Christians. llie Lord has said: "His Word shall not return unto Him void." Isa. 05, 11. lhat. being so, we have sought to let His Word speak for itself. Also we are not so concerned about what men think, we are more concerned in doing the Lords work and leaving the results with Him. lhe day after we received this letter we received one from a lady in Timaru seeking to encourage us in the work and giving us that blessed promise "In due season we shall reap if we faint not. Gal. o H. So in spite of our friend's advice we shall still go on with this work leaving the results with God. .We h°Pewl>en we getto Glory to meet someone who will thank us for our efforts in the Gospel.
