INCREASE OF 8.8 PER CENT.

TOTAL OF £112,000

The apportionment of levies from contributory local bodies for the year 1938-39 was approved by the Wellington Hospital Board last evening as follows, the figures for the previous year being given in parentheses:—

Wellington City Council, £84,316 2s 3d (£76,743 Is).

Hutt County Council, £6256 3s 8d (£5654 7s id)'.

Makara County Council, £2238 4s 2d (£2287 4s). '

Lower Hutt Borough Council, £9741 15s 6d (£9562 13s 8d).

Petone Borough Council, £6130 4s 2d (£5547 2s 8d).

Eastbourne Borough Council, £1463 13s 5d (£1321 2s 2d). ~

Johnsonville Town Board, £591 ;0s 9d (£640 8s).

Upper Hutt Borough Council, £1456 11s Id (£1332 10s).

Total, £112,193 15s Id (£103,088 8s lOd).

The following summary of estimated receipts and expenditure for the year ending March 31, 1939, was before the board:—

Expenditure.—Hospital, £ 1,046,953; outdoor relief, £12,165; Central Park Hospital, £9975; head office, etc., £13,086; total, £1,082,179.

Receipts.—-Hospital, £51,370; Central Park Hospital, £3780; head office, etc., £110; assets over liabilities, 31/3/38, £790,430; total, £845,690.

Apportionment and Subsidy.—Levies, £112,193 15s Id; Subsidy from Government, £124,295 4s lid; total, £236,489.

I Estimated ordinary expenditure was shown as follows:—Wellington Hospital, £241,341; outdoor relief, £12,165; Central Park Hospital, £9975; head office, etc., £13,086; total, £276,567.

Estimated receipts were:—Wellington Hospital, £51,370; Central Park Hospital, £3780; head office, etc., £110; assets over liabilities, 31/3/38, £10,712; totals, £65,972.

Net estimated ordinary expenditure: £210,595.

Estimated capital expenditure was shown as follows:—Wellington Hospital, £805,612; assets over liabilities, 31/3/38, £779,718: £25,894.
