SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS,

Another very slight disturbance crossed New Zealand last-night and there, has since been a rapid rise of pressure. An anticyclone of considerable Intensity now extends from southeastern Australia 'on to the South Island. Winds wera variable yesterday, but during last night a southerly change advanced from the south over most of. the country. It was preceded by strong northerlles in the Cook Strait area. The southerlies themselves are strong there also, but otherwise light to moderate. There lias been scattered light rain, but little over the northern half, of the North Island. Temperatures have fallen somewhat.
