RADIO LICENCES
I Listeners' radio licences at the end of February numbered 279,109, showing an increase in twelve months of 44,825. The advances of recent years have been rapid, and in the latest annual figures it is demonstrated that the progress in popularity of radio broadcasting is • well distributed throughout the Dominion. Listeners' licences in the four licensing districts, with a comparison. for the corresponding period of last year, are held as follows: — 1937 1938 Wellington ...... 83,742 98,686 ! Auckland 75,108 91,077 Canterbury > 43,042 51,531 Otago " 32,392 37,815 j Dealers' licences, experimental (amateur), and other form's of licences bring the grand total to 281,450, showing an increase over the number at February 28, 1937, of 44,847.
