PLUNKET SOCIETY PARTY

A successful children's plain and fancy dress party, organised by the committee of the Ngaio sub-branch of the Plunket Society was held recently in the Ngaio Town Hall. The many ■artistic and original fancy costumes made it difficult for the judges, Mesdames H. Ainslie and. F. Matthews, of the Wellington Central committee, to award the prizes. The programme included the playing of games, community singing, items by children, a song by Anne Farquharson, dances by Joan Lane, Pauline Lark, Peter Thomson, a tap dance by Edna Thomson, recitations by Lloma Wills, Nancy Galloway, and Miss Kinvig. Mrs. 'Christian accompanied, and Mrs. Wilman led the singing. A very attractive item was the ventriloquism giv;en by Mr. Burridge and his doll "Sam." ,An attractive home-made sitdown supper was served in the supper room where ttu tables were decorated with spring flowers. Gifts were distributed to every child. Mr. A. L. Marks took charge of the proceedings.

The prize winners •tfere as follows:— Best fancy costume, Mary Leith and Peter' Thompson; most original costume, Pat Wheeler and Ronald Fisher; prize to small child, Ramsay Newton; special prize for pair, Margaret and Catherine Irving. •
