SUCCESSFUL DANCE

The Hutt Valley Troop of the Legion of Frontiersmen held a happy dance, the first in the lower valley for some time. Taita Hall was gay with streamers, yellow being the keynote of decoration, and the bright frocks of the many dance: s added to the cheerful scene. There: was a very good attendance of members and friends andmany visitors from outlying districts. An appetising supper was provided by a committee of ladies, led by. Mrs. Ken Anderson. The arrangements for the dance were in the capable hands of Lieutenant and Mrs. W. Smith,' Sergeant and Mrs. K. Anderson, Trooper and Mrs. Winnie, and Trooper, and Mrs. Spencer. ■ Miss Kenny and Mr. Pillbrow were the winners of the Monte Carlo prize. There was a good orchestra, and during the interval Mrs. Hirschorn played the extras.

A friendly and cheerful air prevailed at the dance given by the Returned Soldiers' Association at Lower Hutt' last night, when an unusually large number assembled in the pleasant clubrooms. The original drawings on the 'walls'with the colourful decorations combined to make a lighthearted atmosphere, exhilarating in itself alone, while the excellent music j of tlie orchestra heighened this effect. The programme of novelty dances arranged, and the dainty supper provided by the ladies' committee were greatly' appreciated! The committees comprised Messrs. R.E. Wilton (chairman), P. McNicol (secretary), G. Peak (M.C.), D. Annear, J. O'Meara, W.Poad, C. Akers, N. Berry, C. Burdan, W. Garrett; Mesdames'Robins (who was wearing floral georgette), Shand (wine georgette and lace), Wilton (saxe-blue marocain), Edwards (flame checked taffetas), Page (floral georgette), H. H. Taylor (blue.georgette), Hamilton (floral chiffon). Woolley (cerise velvet), Steadman (black georgette). Also present were Mr. and Mrs. Pointon, Mr. and Mrs. Wildbore, • Mr. and Mrs. Garrett, Mr. and Mrs. McLean, Mr. and Mrs. Dorwood, Mr. and Mrs. Toomath, Mrs. Gamier, Mrs. . Burdan, Mrs. McNicol (brown floral crepe),' Mr. and Mrs. Thompson, Misses D. and E. Oates, Miss Childs, Miss Williams, Miss Hardiman, Miss Allison, Messrs. L. Pearson, Hendra, R. Jarrett, L. A.
