AUCKLAND TROTTERS
Although he is back on 108 yards, Meadow King is likely to be keenly sought after in the main trot at| Auckland and he only needs to be, produced in the same form as at Epsom ] in J April to take a power of beating, as there are few faster square-gaiters) in the North Island. He is not carrying any surplus condition at present and: will lack nothing on the score of physical fitness. C. G. Lee is adepVin the handling of • trotters, and .as Meadow King has been in'his stable since tne conclusion of the last ? Auckland Meeting he is. sure to understand the grey gelding better. One of the hardest horses for Meadow King to. beat may be Te Kahu, who ran two splendid races at Epsom m April: On that occasion he was runnerup in two races, and J.-T. Paul is certain to produce the bay trotter in the best order on Saturday. Te.Kahu is a brilliant beginner, and once on the journey .displays more speed than the average horse in this class, but his failure is that he is not the best of stayers. However, his ability to gain a prominent position early will be to his advantage, and he looks like causing Meadow King most trouble.
