CHESS FOR CHILDREN

GISBORNE, June 17 The Gisborne Chess Club has sel aside one evening each week to teach primary school children the rudiments of the game, and the first class was held tonight. Teachers are giving every encourage-1 ment to the children to participate. This is believed to be the first centre in New Zealand where primary school children have been taught chess on a big scale.
