CHALLENGE SHIELD DATE
At a meeting of the executive of the' Wellington Hockey Association held yesterday a letter was received from the Auckland Association advising that the most suitable date for the playing' of the New Zealand Challenge Shield fixture, Wellington v. Auckland, was July 31. Mr. H. E. Watts was nominated as one of the umpires to control the matr.h. The meeting agreed that the date would be suitable to Welling°lt was decided to extend an invitation to the Canterbury .Association to send a senior team to play Wellington at Wellington on July 17, a similar invitation to be extended to the Nelson It was decided to postpone all games on June 26, the date of the third Association football Test at Wellington, as an act of courtesy to the New Zealand Football Association. The congratulations of the executive were extended to Messrs. D. S. Wilson, R. Brown, and M. Brown, three Wellington players who have been chosen to represent New Zealand in the forthcoming tour of Australia. A complaint was voiced on behalf of the Umpires' Association as to the state of the dressing accommodation at Naenae. Complaints were also made as to the condition of the grounds at the same reserve.
A Huia junior player who was ordered off the field last Saturday for ungentlemanly conduct was reprimanded.
F. Ross, a plumber, of 14 Mulgrave Street, caught his left foot in a lift in a building in Cuba Street yester-. day and received a bad cut and shock.
