AERO CLUB ACTIVITY
WAIRARAPA-RUAHINE
(Special to the "Evening Post.")
. MASTERTON, This Day. A meeting of the committee..of the -Wairarapa and-Ruahine Aero Club was held at the clubhouse on Wednesday night, the president, Mr. A. McDonald presiding over a good attendance.
It was reported that, applications were coming in freely dEor participation in the Government's = new training scheme. The total number of trainees to be. s handled by- the .club under the scheme was limited to nine for the current year.
Six new members were elected and two: previous t supporters of the club signified their intention of rejoining. It was reported that all three machinesv had'been inspected by the chief Government inspector and passed as in thorough, first-class order. Two pilots, Messrs.'A. J. Scott and M. Pirie, had obtained endorsed licences during the month. The.winner of the Elkington v Scholarship;. AJ. R. Bloxam, of Pahiatua, had commenced training and was now ready for examination for his licence. He had made very good progress and the pilot-instructor, Mr.iK. R. Johnston, reported that he should make a most efficient pilot. ; The-club, was stated to be considering ways and means of purchasing additional aircraft for advanced training work-.' - - ■ -■ -' ' -
Messrs. A. McDonald (president) and H. A. R. DUndei-dale (secretary) were appointed to represent'the club at the half-yearly meeting of the New Zealand. Aero Club, to be held on Tuesday, June 29.. • Iv the event of Mr. McDonald being unable to 'attend, Mr. P.?F, Fagan was appointed as .substitute.
